The latest in the series is another brilliant action film featuring Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark. Stark teams up with a pretty sharp 10-year-old, Harley, who helps track the Mandarin to Miami. As you can see from the movie trailer, Mandarin is the creation of a villain known as Killian. Stark, his girlfriend, Pepper Rhodes, and Harley will battle to try and capture or kill Killian and, at the same time, save the President of the U.S. Non-stop action is the name of the game in Iron Man 3.

An action movie geared towards teenagers has recently been released in Australia. The movie, Tomorrow When the War Began, is based on the 1993 novel by John Marsden and is the story of how eight teenagers cope when they find out that their country has been invaded. The novel is very popular among young adult readers and has now been turned into a movie.
The story starts out with seven of the teens going away camping just before school goes back. While they are away, the rural town they live in, as well as the rest of Australia gets invaded by a foreign enemy force. The story is told through the eyes of the protagonist, Ellie Linton. The action movies were originally made by US. After this, several other countries also started making them. They are becoming very popular among people because of the several genius writers in the film industry. Actors like Stallone and Schwarzenegger dominated the screen and their films are doing good business because a large number of people like their films. In today’s time, the action movies need to have more of a comedy or love story than just a pure action. To make these type of films these days, one needs a tough female co-star, instead of the conventional scenes of violence. Apart from this, one also needs to add wise cracking comedies , instead of relying on the traditional heavy dialogues.
One of the best action movies is the “Iron Man” that has been rated among the top films of 2008. It casts acclaimed actors plus the cinematography of the film is awesome. In this film, Robert Downey Jr delivers an incredible performance by playing a billionaire playboy. It is basically based on terrorism and suggests some ways to eliminate terrorists from the face of this earth. This film has done great business in
From time to time, a friend will ask me for suggestions about the top action movies ever made. I always give the same answers, so I thought I might as well write them down for the enjoyment of others. While there’s a strong chance that you’ve seen all the films listed below, younger readers might discover a whole new world of explosions and gunfights opening up for them. And even if you’ve already watched them all, they’re still good enough to warrant repeat viewings.
Enter the Dragon (1973) – Combining elements of the action, thriller, and martial arts genres, Enter the Dragon tells the story of Lee (Bruce Lee), a Shaolin monk who’s invited to participate in a martial arts tournament on the island of crime lord Han (Shih Kien). Lee has no interest at first, but he changes his mind after being approached by British Intelligence and later informed that one of Han’s goons had a hand in the death of Lee’s sister. Heading to the island, he also encounters an American playboy named Roper (John Saxon) and a black activist named Williams (Jim Kelly). From there, the tournament begins in earnest,
The 80s were a great time for action movies. That was the decade when raw, gritty and explosive action sequences entered movies in a big way, giving rise to stars like Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis with huge international followings. Before that, action sequences in movies were not much to talk about. Of course, there were war movies, Westerns, science fiction, James Bond and Dirty Harry, but they were all what we can call ‘soft action’ now. No bulging muscles, no sweating brows, no bruised and bloodied faces, no death-defying stunts, and certainly no large scale damages and destructions that we see in today’s action movies. Granted there were fistfights, gunfights, cavalry charges and car chases even then, and people did get killed in scores, but there were no testosterone-filled aggressiveness, no blood and gore, no collateral damages, and certainly no wholesale destructions of infrastructures.
The 80s changed all that. Suddenly, the silver screen exploded with deafening sounds of firefights, car crashes, and explosions. Good and not-so-good tough guys with machine guns and shot guns in their muscle-bound arms were everywhere. Even the women fought side by side with their men.
The 1980s were a great time for action movie lovers. Some of the biggest stars of the day-as seen in the recent film “The Expendables”-were action stars. Their flicks were filled with massive muscles, huge fights, explosions, and a truckload of one-liners. Here are some of the top examples from this golden age for the genre.
“Die Hard” (1988)
Bruce Willis plays the part of John McClane, a NYPD police officer caught up in the wrong place at the wrong time. McClane travels to an office Christmas party in order to try and patch things up with his wife, Holly. While he changes his clothes, an archetypal terrorist, Hans Gruber (brilliantly played by Alan Rickman), and his group occupy the building and hold everyone hostage. Plenty of action ensues, with broken glass flying and plenty of gore.
“Rambo: First Blood Part II” (1985)
Without a doubt, this is one of the most influential action movies. Based on the 1972 novel “First Blood” by David Morrell, the story follows John Rambo, a Vietnam War veteran who finds himself in trouble after the war is over.
I get a lot of questions from fans about my favorite adventure thriller authors (James Rollins, Andy McDermott, Clive Cussler, Matthew Reilly, Boyd Morrison, Jack DuBrul, among others), but recently I’ve had several requests for my favorite action movies. So here they are, in alphabetical order:
Air Force One (1997)-Harrison Ford as United States President James Marshall who has to rescue his plane from terrorists, Die Hard-style.
Beverly Hills Cop (1984)-the classic action-comedy starring Eddie Murphy at his finest.
Cliffhanger (1993)-Sylvester Stallone plays a mountain rescue ranger up against impossible odds when John Lithgow’s team of Bad Guys brings down a U.S. Treasury plane in the Rocky Mountains to steal the 100 million dollars aboard. Lithgow gives a tour-de-force performance as the psychotic, quirky Eric Qualen.
Commando (1985)-starring Arnold Schwarzenegger as John Matrix, a retired Delta Force operative who is forced to carry out a political assassination when his daughter Jenny (a young Alyssa Milano) is held hostage. Naturally, he escapes and turns the tables on the Bad Guys. Also starring the lovely Rae Dawn Chong. One of the best action films of the
The premise of “Crank” is a fairly simple one. Chev Chelios (Jason Statham – “Transporter”) is a professional assassin who is poisoned with a combination of drugs called “The Beijing Cocktail” by one of his enemies. The poison will quickly kill him unless he can keep his adrenaline up to block the poison from bonding with his blood. Thus, Chev must do everything he can to keep his blood pumping fast enough to keep himself alive while he hunts down his enemy Verona in search of an antidote and to avenge the poisoning itself.
Despite the simple concept, “Crank” becomes a complex weave of characters and action that really doesn’t make sense, causing the movie to just be one high-adrenaline action scene after another. The high points of the movie are few and far between. Due to the concept of the movie, the action scenes are intense and each one brings a different type of action to the forefront. From a gun fight, to high speed car chases. to a fight on a helicopter mid-air, “Crank” takes every possible way to create action-packed moments and forces Chev to experience them.

Action Movies are packed with lots of action sequences, pulse raising scenes, and mind blowing dialogues. Beside this, these films also work as a good preacher. These films always tell us that whatever the condition you are facing, if you are true in your values and decisions, then the victory will always be yours. Some of the highly popular films in this genre include
1. The Seven Samurai – Akira Kurosawa’s epic The Seven Samurai’ appeared in 1954. According to people who care about this sort of thing, The Seven Samurai’is thought of as the first true action adventure film. This epic film about a squad of samurai freelancers defending a village invented many techniques used in action movies today. Kurosawa’s film was the first to use slow motion for dramatic effect, and introduced the world to the stand-alone prologue. Akira Kurosawa is a master of filming battle scenes, and he pioneered many techniques for filming action and fighting that would be used for the subsequent half a century. Using extreme close-ups during fight scenes just wasn’t done before this film, and that particular technique is still used today. The Magnificent Seven is the most obvious example, but many movies have been heavily influenced by The Seven Samurai.
2. The French Connection – This 1971 film exemplifies the golden age of harsh and cutting-edge police procedurals. The 1970s was loaded with pulp and dirt, and for a time it seemed as if no film could be shot during the day. The French Connection is one of these
Action movies have been around for a long time and they don’t seem to be going anywhere. In fact, they’re getting better all the time! More intense, more realistic and they are drawing more people to the theater and rental boxes than ever before. Why the appeal to these types of movies? Young and old alike, men and even a good number of women, genuinely enjoy action movies. Here are just a few reasons why that is;
There is little realism to modern action movies. The fights are choreographed to perfection, the sound effects are booming, the visual effects are stimulating and it’s all so real – only, it isn’t real. In fact, some of the events that take place and stunts performed in action movies are near impossible. However, they look real and that makes them fun to watch. In the past, action movies were less realistic and though no one took much notice to the lack of simple effects that could have improved the films, today you can watch those films and at least get a good laugh at an actor “flying” across a room
If you want good action movies to watch, I’ll discuss some of the best action scenes you’ll find. The idea of an action film isn’t just to see random fight scenes, car chases, and explosions. Sure, you probably want some combination of each, but you also want a story.
That story should involve action heroes going up against seemingly impossible odds. There’s more to a good movie villains than bad men commanding evil forces and organizations. These men have to represent the fears and frustrations people face in the world around them. The villainous antagonist should represent a real evil alive in the world today.
Great movie villains of the past include terrorists (or fake terrorists), drug cartels, Eastern European slave traders, crime syndicates, corrupt cops, and even more corrupt politicians. The hero in these films represents our frustrations at what we see around us. Inevitably, the story arc should set up these obstacles, then let the champion unleash his anger (and ours), winning ultimate victory and setting the world right again.
Good action movie protagonists should also represent us. Besides our problems, heroes should have the kind of human quirks and foibles people in
I have been a subscriber of the streaming service of Netflix for quite some time now. During this time I have enjoyed the wide selection of movies though sometimes cursing at Netflix for buying C rated action movies. You know these Steven Segal movies where the director fast forward the fight scenes to make it look like Steven Segal is fast as lightning. It is almost embarrassing to watch. Why can he not just age gracefully? I am well aware that action movies generally is made up things that rarely happens in real life but that does not mean I want to see bad special effects or poor CGI. However this week has been great as Netflix has bought many well known and good action movies with great actors. Yes they might be 10-15 years old but they are still good. So for this weekend action is on the menu with titles such as We Were Soldiers, Mission Impossible 1 and 3, Payback and Shooter.
We Were Soldiers is a moving starring many talented actors like Mel Gibson, Greg Kinnear and Sam Elliott. This is just to name a few. It is a

With the word “action” right in the name of the genre, it’s pretty obvious that this is the number one element of the best action movies. What they are looking for now is something original, or at least an idea that is taken to the next level.
